The one common statement that I get to hear too often from people is that, “the market is closed right now” and that there are not many options available around.
While I was partially agreeing to this fact and felt the same, more often than not.. I also saw quite a lot of people switching jobs and for better positions and salaries. I was a little surprised initially, but then realized that, the problem was not in the market, but in the thought.
The market still had a lot of opportunities and there were a lot of good paying jobs. All that was required was a slightly positive thinking and a little motivation to spend some additional time searching.
Staying Motivated
One of the biggest challenge during tough times, is repelling all the negativity around you.
It is not uncommon for people to be negative when the market is tough. Difficult times lead to lesser job promotions and pay hikes. The job market also goes into hibernation. People start getting frustrated and frustration leads to de-motivation.
Negative conversations start with one de-motivated person and spreads to everyone coming in contact with him.
Slowly you sense the negativity in everything around you and your mind starts to create situations that are all negative.
The first and foremost thing to do in such situations is fending off such negativity. Some of these tips might help you in doing that –
- Politely excuse yourself from conversations which look like are going the negative way
- Whenever you feel negativity creeping in, take a break and go for a cup of coffee with people you think are good motivators
- When you feel demotivated, think about all the good things your job has provided you with or, think about the happy faces of your loved ones
- Avoid the company of people who find negativity in everything
The key to be happy during these trying times is to be motivated. The more motivated you are the more opportunities you will find around you and you stand a chance of landing a better job opportunity, if that is something you are aiming for.
